'The Mess That We Made' and #TeamSeas - Read and Rise November 2021

This week's story is inspired by the Team Seas movement started by YouTube personalities Mark Rober and Mr. Beast. The massive fundraiser was launched on October 29th with the goal of raising $30 million to remove 30 million pounds of trash from the ocean by January 1, 2022. The duo teamed up with many other YouTubers to spread the message and it certainly worked - in a little over a week, they have already raised $13 million!

Lil C and Squidgy learned about the movement while watching Aphmau's video promoting #TeamSeas and Lil C was immediately excited and wanted to help (she LOVES all things ocean, especially dolphins). In addition to donating $10 to #TeamSeas along with Squidgy, Lil C created a poster to help me spread the message!

You can get more info from the Team Seas website and from the following organizations' websites, but the gist is, all the money donated will be split equally between The Ocean Cleanup and Ocean Conservancy and no money will be released to the organizations until the trash has been removed. Removing 30 millions pounds of trash is a daunting task but when we come together, INCREDIBLE things can be accomplished! If everyone in the US donated just $1, they could reach their goal of $30 million 10 times!

Activity: The oceans are EXTREMELY important to us and our planet and it's our responsibility to take care of them. If you are able, please donate to Team Seas - even if it's only $1 - and enter "Cardboard Mom" as your team name.

Help spread the message! Lil C and I will be sharing tips on other ways you can help keep our oceans clean throughout the campaign and one of the best and easiest things you can do is share your knowledge with others!

Thank you all for being amazing and making a difference!
